SINGAPORE, April 27 (Bernama) -- The Singapore Democratic Party raised an objection that Sim Ann, one of the People's Action Party candidates for Holland-Bukit Timah Group Representation Contituencies (GRC), was technically still in the civil service.
As a result, SDP said the candidate should be disqualified from standing as a candidate in the general election.
In response, Singapore's Election Department said any objection to a nomination paper was permitted only if it fell within one of the grounds specified in Section 30 of the Parliamentary Elections Act. Full story
