Singapore General Election 2011 : Overseas Voting

ISRIA
Overseas Voting for Singaporeans
Overseas Voting is not compulsory. The on-line registration (before the Writ of Election was issued) was to facilitate those (Singaporeans) whose names are in the current Registers of Electors, who meet the qualifying criteria, and who are staying near one of the nine (9) designated overseas polling stations, to cast their votes when Singapore conducts its parliamentary or presidential elections. There is no other option to qualify oneself to be an overseas elector if the main criterion of 30 days' residency in Singapore during the last three (3) years (between 1 Jan 2008 and 31 Dec 2010) is not met. (Note: For an overseas Singaporean who does not have a Singapore residential address, his/her name would not be in the register of electors as the ELD would not be able to assign the constituency to him/her.)
