Singapore PM: Good for ruling party to face contest in election

SINGAPORE, April 28 (Xinhua) -- Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has said it was good for the ruling People's Action Party (PAP) to be contested strongly in the general election, local media reported on Thursday.
The ruling party filed nominations for all 87 parliamentary seats while the opposition parties went for 82, leaving only the five-seat Tanjong Pagar group representation constituency, helmed by Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew, to see a walkover. Full story
