Singapore's ruling party unveils candidates for coming general election

SINGAPORE, April 4 (Xinhua) -- Singapore's ruling People's Action Party has unveiled most of its new heavyweight candidates over the weekend, including former central bank chief Heng Swee Keat.
Heng has been identified as one of the five heavyweight candidates for the upcoming general election and possible "core members of the fourth general team." Others include Ong Ye Kung, a 41-year-old who had been a free trade negotiator and an assistant secretary general at the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC), 38- year-old Lawrence Wong Shyun Tsai, former chief executive of Energy Market Authority and two retired army generals Chan Chun Singa and Tan Chuan Jin.
